Bhutan Tourism Policy & Visitor Guidelines.

1.POLICY

-Bhutan follow"high value,low impact"tourism policy to proctect its culture and environment.

-All international tourist (except indians,bangladesh and maldive) must book their trip through licensed bhutanese tour operators or their partners abroad.

-visitors need an e-visa (foreigners) or an entry permit(indian).

2.Travel Documents:

-indian -passport or voter ID card, issueed at border points.

-Foreign-passport with at least 6 months validity.

-Travel routes like thimphu and paro require special permit.

-SDF must be paid in advanve when applying for a visa/permit.

3.Sustainable Development Fee(SDF)

-Foreign tourists:USD100 per person per night.

-Indian tourist: INR 1200 per person per night.

-children age 6-12 years: 50% discount.

4.Exemption

-child under 6 year are fully exempted from SDF.

-Diplomats,office delegation,invitees of Goyal Government of bhutan may be exempted from SDF.

-Day visitors(crossing border towns without staying over night) are exempted from SDF.

5.Restrictions for visitor.

-Independent travel without a licensed guide is not allowed for visitor.

-Trekking in restricted zones or near border areas required special permits.

-foreign drones,satellite phone and filming need government clearance.

-smoking is restricted,bringing tobacco product in to bhutan is limited and taxed.
